Letter from the Head of School

Courtney McKeown - Head of SchoolGreeting & Welcome to WCS!

There has never been a more exciting time to be a lion! As we begin our 15th year of providing Christ-centered Christian education, we continue to see God move and work throughout our students, families and supporters.  Not only is it humbling to be a small part of the amazing work God continues to do here at WCS, it is also extremely exciting!

Many people ask what makes WCS different than other private Christian schools in this area?  Without a doubt, it is the people who make up the WCS family. Our Christian educators are gifted in their field, and work diligently to bring academic rigor infused with the love of our Savior. The administrative and office team work tirelessly to create the most loving and supportive environment available to all students and families. Last but not least, are our precious families who understand the importance of hard work, giving back and growing together to see God glorified in all that we do.  Ecclesiastes 4:12 states “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”  That is a truth lived out here at Weatherford Christian School.

Over the course of 15 years we have seen blessings from God poured out over WCS through this three strand cord.  The faculty and staff have not only taught academic subjects, but have ministered to the hearts of our students and as they leave the halls of WCS, they are becoming world changers.  Our WCS supporters have sacrificially given of their personal blessings to provide opportunities to our entire school community.  Just a few of these donor funded improvements include; each K-12th grade classroom being outfitted with interactive white board technology and document cameras, a student computer lab built at each campus, athletic fields added, and the highly anticipated AC for our gymnasium is in the construction phase as we speak. We have also been fortunate to add a cutting-edge college planning program for our 6th-12th grade students called Naviance.  This program is designed to tailor the college planning track for our students to help them achieve their dreams upon graduation from WCS.

WCS is a growing vibrant community of faculty and families walking together, following God’s lead as laid out in His word.  We seek God’s guidance daily to make the best decisions possible for all students by remembering that Christ must be the center of all that we do or our efforts are in vain. We are not perfect here at WCS, we are real, real people seeking real answers to teaching, parenting and ministering to our students in this broken world. When our culture continues to bombard us with things that are counter to God’s word it can be overwhelming, but we must encourage each other with this promise from our Lord and Savior: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Being a part of the WCS community is a daily blessing. We pray that you will see our faith lived out through our mission to create a Christ-centered educational environment where children are equipped for lives of Christian leadership and service.

May Peace and Blessings be upon your path,

Courtney McKeown
