A Note of Thanks from The Keis Family…

Yesterday was All Hallows Eve, or “Halloween”.  Today is All Saints Day, and Wednesday is All Souls Day.  All are originally celebrations of the Church that have been commercialized.  My beautiful wife sent me pictures of all the kids dressed up, in each their own costume, and it put a huge smile on my face, and put tears in my eyes. I work in Odessa M-F
so I live a lot through pictures and face time.  Since joining the WCS family, we have been truly blessed by both the ability to attend, and
the great Christian families that we have come to know and love.  We came to WCS in the beginning for not only a Christian education, but for a great one on one education that we knew we would never receive in public schools.  Every day we realize, more and more, that this school is not only fulfilling the wants and needs we had for our children, but it is making our family even stronger and closer to Christ.

On October the 12th, our beautiful 9 year old daughter, Kenidy, had brain surgery for “Arnold Chiari Malformation Stage One,” and in hopes to help shrink a Cyst on her spinal cord.  With God being the great wonderful, loving, and merciful God that he is, Kenidy returned to school on the 24th just 12 days after surgery.  We have made it out of the forest, but not out of the woods just yet.  We will return for a 6 month MRI checkup to make sure the Cyst is getting smaller and going away.  During this we have experienced so many blessings from so many people, that we are honestly in shock.  I personally have never experienced God’s love from his people like this.  We are so grateful for all the cards, letters, meals, gifts, and most of all the prayers.  If someone in your life does not believe in prayer tell them to talk to our family as prayer works and GOD is GOOD.

We really as a family don’t know how to even begin thanking all of you.  I can tell you that in our evening prayers we pray for all people, but we also pray for our wonderful, GOD loving, praising, worshiping family at WCS.  To be a part of this school is not only a privilege, but a blessing in and of itself.  My wife Keri and I truly believe that without each and every one of your prayers this could have gone different.  Our faith and trust in the LORD is always there.  In every aspect of life the devil will try to prevail.  With all the prayers and loving support from all, the devil never had a chance and we have grown stronger as a family and we thank you.  Prior to surgery, during, and after there is always that voice in the back of your mind that something could go wrong.  Through not only our prayers, but your prayers, we were able to have faith in our great LORD, and not only make it through this difficult time but come out stronger in our faith.  We are Catholic and Kenidy has always loved serving the lord.  Several months ago she wanted to become an Alter Server and we put this off until after her surgery.  She went through training on October the 22nd, just 10 days out of surgery.  Her first time to serve on the Alter was Sunday October the 30th.  The Gospel Acclamation just happened to be, “God so love the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might have eternal life”, which just happens to be John 3:16.  Which was on the bracelet, t-shirts, and this is her favorite bible verse.  This has been simply a remarkable testament to our school, and the children of GOD that attend this school.

In closing, we would like to go back to the first two sentences.  Today is all saints day, and we believe that all of you are saints, for your prayers, and the miracles that you continue to work and make happen, simply by your love of God, prayer, and continued prayer, for not only the children that you know and love, but for those children who do not have the support, and blessings, that have been so graciously bestowed upon us.

God Bless you and Thank You So Much,

Chris, Keri, Kylie and Kenidy Keis

WCS Brings On New Praise & Worship Instructor

Weatherford Christian School will welcome Brandon Baldwin as their new Praise & Worship instructor.  Brandon is a musician and Worship Pastor currently serving at Greenwood Baptist Church.  Shortly after he discovered his love for music, he began leading students in worship in 1999.  He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Weatherford College and his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

He has spent the last 11 years as a bi-vocational minister, functioning as a Project Manager and Regional Sales Manager for Tower Engineering, while living out his love for the Lord and music at Greenwood Baptist Church.  Excitedly, he has recently moved into a full time position with Greenwood.  Over the past several years, while giving guitar lessons, he also discovered a passion for helping students discover their passion in music.  Brandon has been married to his wife Shayla for 12 years and has two children that currently attend WCS.

Student Council Travels to DBU Leadership Conference

The Weatherford Christian School Student Council attended the DBU Leadership Conference on September 14th, 2016.  They heard speeches on different leadership styles, and the struggles of poor leadership.  This conference helped WCS student council recognize their own individual leadership styles, how to use their God given gifts to lead others, and how to utilize what they learned to help impact the school in a positive way.

Kenidy’s Crew Shirts – Supporting the WCS Family!

kenidyv2Attention WCS Parents:
As some of you may or may not have heard, our sweet Kenidy Keis, in 3rd grade, is having a very serious brain decompression surgery on October 12th, at Cook Children’s Hospital. Kenidy has what is called Chiari 1 Malformation.

Once they take her back to the operating room, they will do an MRI. Once she is asleep and her head is tilted, they will determine if they will need to go in and open the dura and go inside the brain – it will all depend on how compressed her tonsils are in her neck.

She also has a condition called Syringomyelia (sear-IN-go-my-EEL-ya) which is a cyst, called a syrinx, that forms within the spinal cord. This is a big concern as well. They will not mess with that as they feel the chiari surgery will fix that issue. If not, then she may have another procedure in the future regarding that. (he will do another MRI in 6 months from surgery to check).

The surgeon has talked to Chris and Keri Keis by themselves and told them how serious this surgery is and that if he has to go into the dura, it opens up for all sorts of complications. He has tested her reflexes and indicated he sees some issues with that, but feels that is because of the fluid on her spine.

Kasey Petzold, our PTP President, has been so sweet to help design a shirt with some of Kenidy’s favorite things; the color blue, Jesus and her favorite verse ~ John 3:16, as a fundraiser.

Please see the link below that will take you to our online store to order.

Thank you all in advance for your support for this family and please keep them lifted in prayer in the coming days.

They have expressed how grateful they are to be a part of WCS!!

2016 NJHS Induction Ceremony

Congratulations to the 2016 WCS National Junior Honor Society Inductees. They were officially announced at last night’s ceremony which took place at South Main Church of Christ Auditorium.

Middle school students are selected based on five criteria: citizenship, service, pride, scholarship, & character. Common requirements include maintaining a high grade point average (the national minimum is a 3.5) and becoming good citizens (by participating in service projects). The NJHS requires some sort of school service to the community, school, or other organizations.

Back to School Bash

Dear WCS Families,

Due to the wonderful rain we have received we are in need of postponing our Back To School Bash. Two of the special activities that we were planning having at the bash cancelled on us, and we are also being cautious with our new parking lots and football field. THE NEW DATE FOR BACK TO SCHOOL BASH WILL BE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH.

We will have a 4:30 Home Junior High Football game against Fort Worth Academy and a 7:30 Home Varsity Football game against Forestburg.

PTP will have all our scheduled Back To School Bash activities set up prior to the Varsity football game and we will be introducing ALL FALL SPORTS teams at half time. This includes Elementary/Jr. High/High School, football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading.

Those students who attended Little Lions Cheer Camp will also be participating in a few chants along with our Junior High and Varsity cheerleaders. Thank you for your understanding. We want this to be a fun and memorable event.
