WCS Annual Christmas Play Entertains and Collects 134 Pairs of Shoes for Those Less Fortunate

Over 150 elementary students from Weatherford Christian School took the stage last Friday night at North Side Baptist Church to entertain parents, grandparents and supporters with their reproduction of The Christmas Shoe Tree.   The highly energetic and holiday festive play told the story of three siblings that own a Christmas tree farm and love to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The three main characters, which consisted of two brothers and sister and were played by Jackson Floyd, Jace Hebbert & Madison McCormick,  decide to decorate one of the trees with donated shoes in order to give them to those that are in need.

WCS decided to follow the play’s lead by asking families and guests to bring a new or gently used pair of shoes to the play, so that they too could help children in Parker County as well as children in Haiti that are without shoes this holiday season.  The non-denominational Christian school is dedicated to their mission of providing a Christ-centered educational environment where children are equipped for lives of Christian leadership and service.  They were able to collect 134 pairs of shoes through the generosity of others that will be distributed to those in need.   The play was directed by WCS music teacher Sharon Floyd and created by Jeff Slaughter.
